Sometimes an ad, pop up or Cookies notice might get in the way of a screenshot. Or, you might want to add your own screenshot of a page or specific mention in an article, or replace an image for a social media post.

If there are sites where our automated screenshot has pop-ups or a cookie notice getting in the way, please get in touch as we may be able to fix this for future submissions.

Capturing Screenshots

We've updated our image editing features to include a replace screenshot option. You can now take a screenshot using your preferred tool and upload it to CoverageBook to replace our automated screenshots. We will resize the image to fit so it'll display at CoverageBook's full dimensions.

If you don't have a preferred screenshot tool, www.awesomescreenshot.com is one option that has features to capture a selected area or full length images.

How do I capture a mention or smaller image?

If you're just wanting to grab an image of a mention, specific part of a page or a social media post, using the snipper tools on Windows (Win+Shift+S) or Mac (Cmd+Shift+4) are a quick option. Alternatively, you can use the 'Selected Area' option on Awesome Screenshot.

How do I capture a full page?

If you're using Awesome Screenshot, you can capture just the visible part of the page on your screen, or select to capture a scrolling image of the page for a longer screenshot.

How to replace an image

Once you've got an image you want to use, click on the add/edit media button above the clip in your report to open up the image editing menu

Next, click on 'replace screenshot'

Drag and drop or click to add your image and hit confirm replacement

Your image will now resize to fit CoverageBook's dimensions so it'll display full size. You can also use our Image Frame and Crop features to pick out a mention, or tidy up the edges of your image.

My image has exceeded the maximum resolution. How do I fix that?

If your image is over 50 Megapixels in resolution, it'll be too large for us to resize correctly, and we'll show an error message when the limit has exceeded the max allowed size:

If you're using a 4K or retina display, using a tool like Awesome Screenshot can capture really large default images!

Click on the Options button in the bottom right corner of the capture menu

Click the toggle switch to capture half sized images for retina screens to on.

Resize your browser window to capture better presented images

Alternatively if you're working on a wide or high resolution display, you can also resize your browser window before taking a screenshot. This will help capture a cleaner, more presentable image of the page to cut out any unused white space at the edges.

For example here's CoverageBook's FAQ's page on a wide monitor.

If I resize the width of my browser window I can adjust to capture a better image.
