Coverage Type is the first part of a new set of features (more coming soon!) that will help you to analyse and classify your coverage more easily.
When you add online and print coverage, we'll automatically include the type of coverage it is, so you won't have to scan the clip manually to spot things like which ones were a review, interview, feature, roundup or news article.
This makes it possible to pull out all reviews from a product launch, separate interviews from a campaign report, or see the mix of coverage you’ve earned. You can also filter by coverage type in your coverage library, and see the data at a glance in our CSV export.
Where can I see the coverage type on my clips?
You'll see a coverage type tag show in the top right of the clip. We'll automatically include the coverage type for online and print coverage as you're adding it to a report.
Coverage type will be added to new clips you import (it won't update any previous reports or clips you've added before).
Depending on the content we might not always be able to accurately predict the type of coverage. You can also edit the type and add your own for any clips.
Can I manually add coverage type to a clip, or edit the type for an existing clip?
Yes, just click on the edit button to the right of the coverage type label on the clip and you can add your own definition, or edit an existing one.
What types of coverage are available?
We have 7 types of coverage to choose from:
Feature - an in-depth editorial or profile.
Interview - Q&A or conversation with a spokesperson or talent.
News - straightforward reporting of announcements or events.
Review - evaluates a product, experience, or performance.
Roundup - a product, brand or mention included within a roundup article or list
Comment - opinion or reaction to news or events.
Placement - product or brand features as an image, text or both.
We've fixed the types of coverage for now so you won't be able to add any new categories. Get in touch if you have any feedback or suggestions!
Can I filter my coverage by type?
Yes! If you're looking to get an idea of how many of your reports are made up of reviews or product placements, or you want to separate just news or interviews from a report, you can do this using your coverage library.
Head to the Coverage tab in the top left menu bar
You can now use the coverage type filter to pick out just reviews, or roundups etc
From the selected clips you can do things like make a new report just to collate your news coverage together, or export the data to CSV for further analysis.
For more information on creating summary reports or using the coverage library to filter and search, check out our guide here.
Can I see coverage type in the CSV export of my report?
Yes, head over to the Share menu of any report and you can export a CSV of all the data, including coverage type in its own column - this allows you to quickly analyse and filter coverage by type.
