How we use AI at CoverageBook

We use a small number of trusted AI tools to help run CoverageBook's services. This page explains what we use, why, and what that means for your data.

The tools we use

  • Anthropic (Claude code). This is an AI coding assistant our engineers use to help develop new features and to identify and fix bugs.

  • Intercom's Fin. This is an AI-powered assistant that helps answer customer support queries.

  • Google's Gemini API. This is used to automatically analyse coverage you upload, including generating a sentiment score, a brand prominence score, and identifying the editorial format of content (for example, a news article, interview or review).

Does AI use your personal data to train models?

Our support platform, Intercom, may use de-identified customer support conversations to improve its underlying AI models. This de-identification takes place before any training and removes direct identifiers such as names and company details. However, this data will still be treated as personal data under data protection law during that process, which means it is carefully protected and is subject to our Privacy Policy.

Where Intercom's Fin uses third-party AI providers to generate a response to your query, those providers do not retain or use that data to train their own models.

Google's Gemini API, which we use to analyse uploaded coverage, does not use your prompts, files or our data to improve Google's products under the terms of our paid subscription.

Anthropic's Claude and Claude code is used internally to support software development and day-to-day business operations. It does not have direct or automated access to customer data repositories in our codebase and is not used to process personal data on our customers' behalf. Our developers may use Claude to access customer and log data for the purpose of identifying and fixing bugs.

Legal basis

We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interests in providing efficient customer support, useful automated coverage insights, and keeping our services reliable and secure.

Sub-processors

Our current list of sub-processors, including Claude, Intercom, its AI providers, and Google, is available at https://coveragebook.com/privacy/.

Can I opt out?

Yes. You can turn off AI-powered content analysis (Editorial format, sentiment, brand prominence and content tagging) in your account settings at any time. Our AI-powered support assistant is used across our support channels. If you would prefer not to interact with it, you can request to speak to a member of our team directly.

Claude Code is used by our product team and only accesses customer data to help fix bugs. You have the right to object to this processing at any time by contacting us.

Questions or concerns
