Our custom metrics features allow you to track much more than just numbers alone! You can use them to count up brand, CEO or product mentions, or even use them to count up the locations for your coverage. And you can use them to track and measure the tier of each item in your book.

For example, here I want to measure the tier of my coverage.

First, start by creating a custom metric.

Click on "add new metric" and give it a title and short description. Click save.

Next, give the metric a count of 1 and add it to the clip.

You'll see the metric beside each clip you add it to, and we'll total up the count in the Summary page so you can track how many pieces were Tier 1 and so on.

You can do the same to count up a small number of specific mentions, or a product/brand, or anything else you want to count.

Custom metrics will also appear in our CSV export so you can quickly see all the data in a spreadsheet.

This process would work best when you have just a few mentions to track through a report, or you're looking to showcase more global data like the tier of your coverage, where setting up a few custom metrics can help you track those numbers.

All metrics show in one scrolling list for all your client's reports, so this'll work best for smaller numbers of metrics you want to track. If you'd like to review all your metrics and archive any old or unused ones from your list, you can do that here.

I don't need to show these metrics counts in the public book. Can I hide them and access the data elsewhere?

Yes. If you just need a way to count up the number of mentions for internal purposes, you can choose to hide the metrics from the public report both at clip level and from the Summary page.

Here's how to hide and show metrics through your report.

You can then use the CSV export to see all the data (including any metrics you've hidden from the book).

Is there a way to collate or search for this data across all reports in my account?

We don't currently have a search option that'll allow you to filter by custom metric for all reports/clips in your account, so this method might not work well as an official tagging system. But it can help you to count up mentions in a single report.
